One of the easiest ways to decorate is a kitchen is to use items that you’d normally use in the room. I found some old pizza boards at an estate sale and decided to make some “art” to hang on the wall or display on a shelf!
The finished pizza board is a rustic farmhouse style addition to the decor in the kitchen.
The pizza board started out a deep red-orange color that wasn’t very pretty. I sanded the wood to reveal a more rustic tone, but maintained the charm and character of the cuts and slices in the board.
Using thin jute twine, I attached some sprigs of faux boxwood onto the handle of the pizza board.
The bare wood letters were stained first and then painted with a charcoal colored paint. (Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash) Then they were gently distressed to reveal the stain underneath.
Then the letters were glued onto the board and the project was complete!
It looks right at home displayed with some other vintage kitchen items like old muffin tins and cookie sheets. You can find the full tutorial and sources in the original blog post below.
