You are familiar with the term alkaline diet, right?
To be specific, the foods we consume can have an acidic or alkaline effect on the body after they are metabolized.
The daily stress, environmental toxins that we are constantly exposed as well as the acid-forming foods we consume on a daily basis can trigger acidosis.
What I’m trying to say is that if your body is too acidic, you are at higher risk of experiencing fatigue, weight gain, digestive problems, and many other health problems.
Moreover, if the environment in your body is too acidic and you do not treat it on time, your normal cells can become toxic and even cancerous!
Alkalinity Plays an Important Role in Maintaining Good Overall Health
The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14. 0 is the most acidic, 7 is neutral while 14 is the most alkaline. In order to maintain its optimal health, our body needs a slightly alkaline environment of 7.4.
However, different organs and systems thrive in different pH levels. For instance, the saliva has a pH of 6.5-7.0, and the skin has a pH of 5.
In addition, the digestive tract has a pH of 1.5-7.0. This mainly depends on different factors. The food you consume is the most important one!
Dr. Otto Warburg won The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery that an acidic environment is the main cause for 90-95% of all types of cancer.
He also discovered that cancer can’t thrive in a body that is alkaline with a pH of 7.36. Consequently, researchers examined different pH levels of foods and beverages as well as their effect on our body.
The results showed that over-acidity or acidosis is related to the development of diabetes, heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, and other chronic diseases.
