This sweet Vidalia onion dip made with lots of yummy cheese is baked to perfection. It’ll be eaten in no time flat!
If you’re anything like me, you love a good dip. I don’t mean the sour cream and spices type of dip that you chill in the fridge. I’m talking about a cheesy dip that gets baked in the oven to bubbling perfection. This cheesy Vidalia onion dip combines shredded cheese with cream cheese and sweet onions for a flavorful appetizer. You can make this dip for parties, lunch, or just as an -I’m-gonna-watch-Netflix-all-night snack.
My husband absolutely loved this cheesy Vidalia onion dip, my kiddos, not so much. But here’s the thing, the kids hate onions and no matter how small I chop them up, they always find them and complain.
So, if you want to make this dip kid-friendly, just leave out the Vidalias. But, then again, what fun is that?
I am a huge fan of baked dips that contain lots of cheese. This Vidalia cheese dip is a real winner at my house. I made it for my husband’s football party he had on Sunday and everyone loved it. I guess you could say that it was a real “touchdown.”
Here’s a tidbit of info for you: Never use pre-shredded cheese because it contains sawdust, cellulose, and/or cornstarch to keep it from caking.
I always wondered why pre-shredded cheese never melted as well as cheese shredded directly off the block. Now I know! I wonder what those anti-caking agents are made from. Yikes!
