How to Treat it
The very first time you notice even a small gap between your gums and teeth, you should make an appointment with your dentist immediately. You will have to undergo a special procedure called a tooth scaling.
In more severe cases, you might need to undergo surgery where your soft tissue will be grafted a bit.
But for those of you whose receding gum issue is not so serious, there are a few home remedies you can try.
You just might be surprised at the results.
Sesame or Coconut Oil
Both oils contain potent anti-inflammatory properties. In fact, they have been used for centuries for removing toxins and treating cavities.
They offer your teeth and gums protection by forming a layer around them.
You should warm the oil up (you can choose either one, the effect is the same) and hold inside your mouth for up to 15 minutes.
You should do this on a daily basis for best results.
Green Tea
This tea is popular for its many healing abilities. It helps prevent a large and varied number of ailments due to its high antioxidant content, which makes it a natural enemy of free radicals.
The potent antioxidants it contains, called catechins, help prevent any periodontal diseases.
They also naturally strengthen the bond between your gums and teeth. Green tea is great for reducing inflammation and swelling as well.
Aloe Vera
Quite the common product when it comes to skin care, it’s excellent for repairing the structure of your cells as well as relieving any inflammation.
This is why it is so great for treating any receding gums.
Myrrh, Eucalyptus Oil, and Clove Oil
Myrrh is useful for massaging your gums with it. Just crush some myrrh leaves and mix them with some water.
It is now ready to be applied to any ailing or painful areas in your mouth. Sore gums benefit greatly from it.
Eucalyptus oil is a potent natural germicide which can prevent any oral diseases by killing the germs causing it.
You should dilute this oil before applying it to your gums.
Clove oil is ideal for numbing any pain and soothing a toothache. It can even treat halitosis. All you need to do is rub 2 drops of clove oil on your gums.
But, in case you are currently taking any blood clotting medicine, it’s best to first consult with your physician.
Lemon Oil Recipe
This oil is world-renowned for its antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It’s great for promoting gum reconstruction, and treating halitosis too!
It not only boosts the growth and regeneration of your gums, but can even freshen your breath!
But be careful, too much can have the opposite effect by damaging your enamel. That’s why it’s best to use this only once per week.
Ingredients:
- Half or one-fourth a cup of olive oil
- One freshly-juiced lemon
Preparation:
Simply mix both liquids in a jar and close it firmly with a lid. Give it a good shaking, and store it in a dark place so it can infuse properly.
Let it sit there for three weeks, and then you can use it for your gum problems. Shake the jar once a day.
You can apply it directly using either a toothbrush or your finger, for a few minutes.
Remember, a small amount only, and no more than once per week! Stay healthy!
