Many experts in the past thought that eggs are unhealthy food and may harm your health due to their high cholesterol levels. However, this was a huge misconception.

In fact, eggs are a great food for our health. They are a great source of antioxidants, protein, vitamins, and minerals, significantly beneficial for our body.

9. Reduce the risk of cancer

The journal “Breast Cancer Research” published a study which showed that the regular consumption of eggs can reduce your risk of breast cancer by 18%.

Moreover, eggs are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that can stabilize your estrogen levels which are can often contribute to the development of breast cancer.

8. Reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases

Eggs contain more than 40gr of HDL (good) cholesterol. HDL can prevent many cardiovascular diseases. In the past it was considered that eggs raise the cholesterol levels in our blood. In fact, this is not true.

Having the ability to regulate its own cholesterol levels, our body itself produces most of the cholesterol. This is scientifically confirmed by the Biomedical Research Center of Louisiana.

The study included 152 overweight people divided into 3 groups. People in the first group ate nothing for breakfast, the second group had 2 eggs for breakfast, and people in the third group ate a piece of bread.

According to the results, people who had eggs for breakfast managed to lose 75% more weight and 35% more belly fat compared to the other two groups and they experienced no changes in their cholesterol levels.

Eggs have high content of omega-3 fatty acids that can significantly reduce the levels of triglycerides which in turn can prevent many cardiovascular diseases.

7. Improve your eyesight

Eggs have high amount of vitamin A, zeaxanthin, and lutein which are great for our eyesight. Vitamin A can significantly improve our vision and it is essential for seeing in the dark.

Lutein and zeaxanthin are two potent antioxidants that can boost your eyesight and prevent free radical damage.

6. Protect the brain

Eggs contain choline, an important nutrient which is vital for our brain. Choline is a neurotransmitter that sends stimuli to the brain and nervous system and lack of it can have negative effects on the memory and brain function in general.
