How To Make Homemade Mozzarella Sticks
Airfryer
Blender
Airfryer Baking Pan
100g (7oz) Mozzarella
70g (2.5oz) Gluten Free Oats
1 Medium Egg
2Tbsp Italian Seasoning
1Tbsp Garlic Powder
1Tsp Basil
Salt & Pepper
- In a blender place all the seasonings and the gluten free oats and blend for about 5 seconds or until it is like coarse breadcrumbs.
- Using some kitchen towel or a dry clean tea towel pat dry the mozzarella to remove any excess liquid.
- Season the mozzarella in salt and pepper (from above) and cut into mozzarella stick pieces.
- Beat the egg and place in a small dish.
- Place the blender ingredients into a larger mixing dish.
- Toss the mozzarella sticks in the oats, then the egg and then back in the oats.
- Place them in the baking pan inside of your Airfryer. Cook for 3 minutes at 180c (350F).
- Serve immediately with some ketchup.
I always season my food from above with salt and pepper. It helps give you a good overall coating.
For shapes to slice it into, I find that if you think of the shape for a potato when you are doing potato wedges, then that is ideal.
Please note that mozzarella is often purchased in water, therefore it carries a lot of liquid so make sure it is well drained before you cook with it.
The weights for the cheese is based on the cheese out of water, so quite often 150g pack works out at 100g when all liquid has been removed.
We found that 3 minutes was the perfect amount of time. Any longer and you end up with a cheese bomb in your Airfryer (yes really!) and any less and it has that horrible uncooked mozzarella flavour.
