Hawaiian Baked Beans
10 minutes active, 4 hours inactive to prepare serves 10-12
INGREDIENTS
3 cans (28 ounces each) baked beans, drained
1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple in 100% juice
1 can (20 oz) pineapple chunks in 100% juice
1 lb bacon, cooked and chopped
1 small white onion, chopped
1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup mustard
Salt and fresh ground pepper, to taste
PREPARATION
Mix all ingredients together in a 6 quart slow cooker.
Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours (or high for 2 – 2 1/2 hours). If you’d like thicker beans, leave lid off the slow cooker for the last 30-45 minutes.
If they become too thick, stir in a little bit of hot water to thin to desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper before serving.
