Turn a Branch Into a Towel Rack

Turn a Branch Into a Towel Rack

Follow me on Mama guide recipes
You don’t need to spend a lot of money on a towel rack, it’s easy to make one from an old branch. Here’s how we made this one.
All you need is a sturdy curved branch and some curtain accessories similar to the one shown in the picture below. It’s the bits you screw into the wall that keep the curtain rod up.
Then we used a blunt knife to deflake the branch. The branch we found was quite rough and I didn’t want it to hook the towels. Once all the bark had been removed I took some sand paper and sanded any left over rough bits. It took quite a bit of sanding until it was nice a smooth and we had to saw off a few more knobs and bumps as we went along.
Once we were happy we stained and sealed the branch with a exterior wood sealer and drilled some holes on either end.
We cut the bit where the curtain rail goes into off and pushed the spiky bit into the holes we’d drilled earlier and the towel rack was ready.
